AI Fleet is a technology-first logistics company, leading disruption of the $400 billion-dollar full truckload trucking market. Based in Austin, Texas with a tech team in Budapest, Hungary, the company launched in 2020, and growing fast due to its cutting edge AI technology and new business model. The trucking industry has its own problems: truck drivers spend most of their time waiting (which no one pays for), hence driver utilization is under 50%, while fluctuation is high (around 90%) and wages are low. High turnover is a result of low utilization and inefficiencies. 

AI Fleet is obsessed with the happiness and wellbeing of their drivers. They guarantee drivers that they will be home for the weekend, or wherever they want to be, and also guarantee a base minimum pay with an incentive system based on milage rather than get paid by the load. This new model supports diversity as well: third of their drivers are women. 

Low utilization is the source of every problem, and AI Fleet is solving that by proprietary technology that automates order flow and load planning, while driver-centric AI algorithms help driving up the revenue per truck.

The company closed $57 million funding up-to-date that they are affording to scaling and improving technology.

The Senior Software Engineer will join a 10-member agile tech team based in Budapest, Hungary. He/she will work on the core engine of the planning product, the ’solver engine’. This is the brain of the whole system. It gives the value to the whole business and differentiates AI Fleet from the competition.

The engine is written in C programming language.

Each Software Engineer is responsible for a bigger feature: first, have a high-level overview, then plan it, discuss it with the team and finally implement it. Code reviews are part of the daily work. Writing maintainable and scalable code is essential. The methodology is kanban-like, without sprints. This work environment requires a high level of independence and self-discipline, while eningeers must be able to cooperate as a team as well. It will be him who will assist your onboarding and provide mentoring.

an experienced C (or C++) developer, familiar with the concepts of C programming language,

• who is able to solve complex problems and design solutions,
• has experience in complex architectures, data structures and algorithms,
• is able to work both self-directed and collaboratively to deliver results in an async remote environment,
• is excellent in time management, and is able to plan his/her and other people's time,
• understands that the source code is a living thing, there is always room for improvement, he/she needs to know where to fix it, identify bottlenecks, does not let tech debts 'spread like a tumor', but also understands that sometimes a working solution is not a perfect solution and sometimes it is better to let things go,
• is able to communicate in a clear, efficient, and transparent manner with fellow engineers, developers, internal users, partners, and executives of the company in a distributed team,
• has a desire to learn how road transportation works.

It is beneficial if you have:

Working method

Remote with the opportunity to work from an office in Budapest, Hungary, if needed.

We are open for candidates residing East of Austin, Texas, US and West of Budapest, Hungary, EU due to effectively manage time zone differences.

Core time is between 14-18.00 CET due to cooperation with team members in the US. Meetings are during this time period apart from which working is fully flexible.

Form of employment

Full-time employment in Hungary (relocation is supported), or contracting for professionals outside of Hungary

Salary

Gross 1.8-2.1 million HUF/month, in case of full-time employment in Hungary

Contracting is up to negotiation
