Our Client, Binhatch: a fast-growing boutique agency building business-critical software powered by AI

At a certain scale, software stops being forgiving.

Our client, Binhatch is a senior engineering team that helps growth-stage and established companies deliver high-stake software, platform, and AI initiatives into production.

They work on platforms that run at real scale, systems used daily by millions of people, where performance, reliability, and sound design have direct operational and commercial consequences.

They help teams evolve, stabilize, scale, and modernize business-critical platforms, the kind where a technical decision shows up in revenue, uptime, or customer trust. That's the work they're built for, and it's why they hire for ownership, craftsmanship, and direct impact over headcount.

Their engineering culture is serious about tooling. They heavily invest in AI-assisted development, agentic workflows, and the practices that let engineers move faster and spend their attention on the hard, high-leverage problems rather than the commodity work.

With increasing demand from a Germany-based client, they are expanding their team with several senior engineers, and we are supporting this growth.

As a Senior/Staff Software Engineer you will...

  • Work as part of a small, senior unit (typically 3–4 engineers), embedded in a client’s problem space and accountable as one team.
  • We expect engineers to take ownership beyond implementation, understanding the problem, challenging assumptions, driving decisions, and remaining accountable after software reaches production.
  • Design, evolve, and operate systems and platforms.
  • Own stability, high availability, and high performance across the systems you run.
  • Investigate production issues, participate in on-call rotations (24/7) and incident response, and contribute to improving reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Evolve and improve existing systems, consolidating services, strengthening tooling and paying down the right debt.
  • Maintain and improve infrastructure as client products scale.
  • Requirements are not always complete, priorities can shift, and the right solution is not always obvious. We look for engineers who can make progress in these environments without waiting for perfect clarity.
  • Communicate frequently and effectively to drive alignment, unblock progress, and surface risks early.
  • Author and review technical documentation to support sound decision-making and long-term clarity.
  • Help shape how we work: sharing knowledge, reviewing code, and setting the bar by example.

Technology Stack and AI-assisted development

Binhatch is language-agnostic and problem-first. They choose technologies for the problem in front of them, and they expect engineers to pick up new languages and tools as the work requires. You don't need experience with everything below; it's a snapshot of what they reach for most often today.

Commonly used: TypeScript, Node.js; Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform); containerization and orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes).

Nice to have: Python, MongoDB, GraphQL, Kafka; Experience with observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, and production diagnostics.

Equivalent depth in other languages, frameworks, or platforms is fully acceptable.

How they build

They treat AI as an active part of the engineering loop, delegating implementation and iteration to it while they focus on framing problems, guiding execution, reviewing outcomes, and making the calls that matter.

They invest in tooling, AI-assisted development, and agentic workflows so engineers can spend their attention on the hard, high-leverage parts of the work — system design, integration complexity, and reliability — rather than the commodity code.

Sounds good? Apply!

Success in this role

Success in this role is measured by what runs in production and how little friction it takes to get there.

  • first two weeks, you're in flight: set up in the stack, repos, and incident channels, with a working grasp of the systems you're taking on and the constraints around them.
  • first month, you own a meaningful part of the system end to end, making technical decisions independently and shipping to production with confidence.
  • over time, the systems you own stay stable under load, incidents are handled cleanly when they do happen, and complexity trends down rather than up.
  • throughout, you keep the work clear and low-overhead, surfacing risk early, documenting the decisions behind it, and leaving the systems and tooling better than you found them.

This role is typically a strong fit for architect-level Senior or Staff-level engineers who enjoy high-autonomy, high-responsibility environments.

 What we are looking for:

  • We're looking for engineers who combine real technical depth with product judgment and the maturity to operate inside live production system.
  • You have a strong backend foundation: APIs, cloud infrastructure, storage systems, data structures, and core design patterns.
  • You've designed and operated distributed systems, and understand the trade-offs around consistency, scalability, resilience, data ownership, and failure handling.
  • You know how to model complex domains and define effective service and ownership boundaries.
  • You've personally driven important technical decisions and can articulate the trade-offs, constraints, assumptions, and outcomes behind them.
  • You care about performance, scale and clean abstractions, and you measure, prioritize, and improve them pragmatically.
  • You've worked across teams to improve platforms and infrastructure.
  • You're comfortable being accountable for production: reliability, operational health, and incident response. You have participated in formalized on-call processes.
  • You'd rather improve and simplify existing systems than only build new ones, and you're energized by hard operational problems, not just shipping code.
  • You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with both engineers and clients.
  • You do your best work with autonomy, where requirements are incomplete and the right solution isn't obvious upfront.
  • You thrive in remote, async environments.
  • You speak English fluently.
