Build scalable data platforms and production data solutions with Databricks

Our client, RevoData's mission is to bring digital simplicity to data and AI from development to production, leveraging Databricks as a comprehensive platform, enabling their clients to focus entirely on business value.

RevoData works with European companies to to build the data foundations that make real business use cases possible. The company started as a small startup in the Netherlands and has grown to become a Databricks Gold Partner consultancy, employing around 30 people (by the end of 2026), with teams now expanding across the Netherlands, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

The timing is not accidental. The demand for modern data platforms continues to grow — from migrating legacy systems to Databricks to building scalable platforms that support analytics, AI and increasingly complex business use cases.

That is where RevoData comes in.

As a Data Engineer, you’ll work directly with clients to design, build and improve production data solutions. Depending on the project, your focus may range from data pipelines and transformations to the architecture, infrastructure, security and automation behind the platform.

We’re looking for senior, staff and principal-level Data Engineers to join the growing Budapest team.

Databricks experience is highly valuable, but strong data engineering and/or platform engineering experience on other technologies can also be a good starting point.

What You will do as a Data Engineer

Your day-to-day work will depend on the client and project, but the common thread is taking ownership of data solutions that need to work reliably in the real world.

  • Design and build scalable data pipelines and platforms using technologies such as Databricks, PySpark and SQL.

  • Build and improve production-grade data solutions, from ingestion and transformation through to data consumption.

  • Work on data platform architecture, making decisions around how data, compute, storage, governance and workloads should be structured.

  • Migrate legacy data systems to Databricks, helping clients move from existing architectures to modern, scalable platforms.

  • Automate infrastructure and deployments using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD where appropriate.

  • Design for reliability, security and scalability, including identity, networking, access management and governance when the project requires it.

  • Work directly with clients to understand their existing environment, challenge assumptions and turn business or technical requirements into practical solutions.

  • Make pragmatic technical decisions: you know when a solution needs to be robust and future-proof, and when a simpler approach is the better choice.

  • With Staff / Principal level background, provide technical direction beyond implementation, shaping architecture, guiding technical decisions and raising the quality of engineering across projects.

  • At Principal level, bring additional value beyond the immediate delivery, whether through coaching, identifying opportunities, supporting business development or improving internal practices.

Projects usually take from a few weeks to a year, and you may work independently with a client or as part of a small RevoData team.

What We’re Looking for in a Senior/ Staff/ Principal Data Engineer

  • You've built production data solutions: You have experience taking data platforms, pipelines or infrastructure from design through implementation and operation, and understand what it takes to keep them reliable as usage grows.

  • You're experienced with modern data engineering: You have strong hands-on experience with technologies such as Python, SQL, PySpark, ETL/ELT pipelines and data modelling.

  • You understand Databricks: You have hands-on experience with the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform and understand technologies such as Delta Lake, Unity Catalog and Workflows — or you have strong experience with comparable data platforms and are ready to specialise in Databricks.

  • You can think beyond the pipeline: You understand how data platforms are structured as a whole, including compute, storage, governance, deployment and the way data flows from ingestion to consumption.

  • You're comfortable with cloud platforms: You've built or operated data solutions on Azure, AWS or GCP and understand the practical implications of running them in the cloud.

  • You understand production infrastructure: For platform-heavy projects, you're comfortable with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, networking, identity and security — because a data platform needs more than working pipelines to be production-ready.

  • You bring structure to ambiguity: You can walk into an environment where the requirements, architecture or ownership aren't fully clear and turn a vague problem into a concrete technical approach.

  • You're pragmatic: You make sensible trade-offs between quality, scalability, complexity and delivery speed rather than over-engineering every problem.

  • You have strong ownership: You don't need every decision handed to you. You can work independently, take responsibility for your technical choices and stay accountable for the outcome.

  • You can influence technical decisions: You can explain trade-offs and challenge assumptions with engineers, product owners and CTO-level stakeholders, without losing sight of the business problem.

  • You raise the level of the people around you: At Staff / Principal level, you naturally contribute through technical discussions, reviews, mentoring and project-level leadership without needing formal people management.

  • You speak fluent English: You’ll work with international clients and colleagues across Europe.

  • You are a resident in Hungary.

Databricks experience is highly valuable, but strong experience with other modern data platforms can also be relevant.

For experienced data engineers who are new to Databricks, RevoData offers a structured way to build that expertise through certification, hands-on project work and internal knowledge sharing.

Nice to have

  • Databricks certifications, such as Data Engineer Professional

  • Databricks Champion status

  • Experience with Databricks Asset Bundles, Workflows or advanced deployment patterns

  • Strong Infrastructure as Code experience, e.g. Terraform or Terragrunt

  • Experience with cloud networking, private endpoints or cloud security

  • Dutch or another European language

 Sounds good? Apply!

Why RevoData?

You’ll work on data engineering projects where the technical challenge is connected to an actual business problem.

Projects vary significantly: from migrating legacy systems to Databricks and building data pipelines to designing the platforms, infrastructure and governance that data and AI teams depend on. RevoData does not specialise in one industry, so you’ll work across different business processes, technical environments and levels of complexity.

The organization is flat and deliberately low-ego. RevoData strongly emphasises learning and development, knowledge sharing and giving experienced engineers the freedom to shape both projects and the wider company.
