IT salaries in Hungary 2025: What 3 Salary Guides Agree on (and How They Differ)

Salary trends in IT, comparisons and fresh data

IT salary benchmarks based on data collected in 2025

As of now, all leading headhunting firms and job portals have issued their updated reports regarding IT salaries in Hungary. However, these reports may not consistently feature data collected in 2025, while we are all interested in the freshest data, aren't we?

Three salary guides work with data reflecting this year: Enloyd, Bluebird, and NoFluffJobs.

We went through all of them , looked at their salary ranges, methods, and trend signals.

Here’s what stood out, where they agree, and where they differ.

TL;DR

  • Market pace: Hiring slowed and salary growth stabilized—especially at junior/medior levels—while raises increasingly hinge on individual performance. Remote options are scarcer than in 2021–2023.
  • Hot tech: Across the board, cloud, DevOps, and security remain the clearest demand signals.
  • Macro picture: Enloyd reports a +7.8% YoY increase in average monthly salaries for professionals and managers, with stronger gains in some disciplines.
  • How to use the data: The three sources use different methodologies (job-ad medians vs. recruiter pipelines vs. multi-sector benchmarking). For any specific role, triangulate rather than rely on a single source.

 Note: numbers reflect GROSS salaries!

A quick visual: selected senior IT salary ranges across the 3 guides

What you’re seeing: midpoint bars with error bars (= full min–max range) for selected senior roles pulled from each guide:

  • Backend Developer (senior): NFJ H1 2025 1,391,153–1,950,547 Ft.
  • Java Developer (senior): Enloyd 2025 1,550,000–2,400,000 Ft.
  • .NET Developer (senior): Enloyd 2025 1,450,000–2,000,000 Ft.

Cross-source market themes you can reference

1) Hiring stance: cautious, performance-driven, less remote

  • 2024-H1 2025 brought fewer openings and slower decisions; salary expectations leveled off in places.
  • Raises are more often linked to individual performance than general market drift.
  • Full remote is now exceptional (mainly global programs like ERP rollouts); on-site/hybrid is more common.

2) Technology & role demand signals

  • Cloud adoption (cost/efficiency), DevOps (productivity/quality), security (risk/compliance) dominate new investments.
  • Enloyd’s IT chapter highlights these as the prominent trends in current mandates.
  • NFJ’s category medians show solid senior bands in backend, data, and DevOps—supporting a still-resilient core-engineering market.

3) Headline pay movement

  • Enloyd’s multi-sector view: +7.8% YoY in average monthly pay across professionals/managers; IT shows mid-single-digit uplifts by subdomain.
  • Within IT, Enloyd’s year-over-year deltas range roughly +4.5% to +10.3% across sub-areas like Infrastructure/Operations vs. Management/Other.

Numbers you can use (selected benchmarks)

  • Senior Backend Developer (NFJ, median of posted bands): 1.39–1.95M Ft.
  • Senior Java Developer (Enloyd): 1.55–2.40M Ft;
  • Senior .NET: 1.45–2.00M Ft;
  • Senior Frontend: 1.45–2.10M Ft.
  • Senior Project Manager / Scrum Master (Bluebird): 1.65–2.10M Ft / 1.65–2.00M Ft.

Tip: for architect roles (e.g., Cloud/Security Architect), Enloyd lists senior ranges up to 2.55M Ft, reflecting premium for depth + domain (cloud/security).

And what about AI in the IT job market?

All three 2025 IT salary guides point to AI moving center-stage—but in different ways:

  • Enloyd 2025 names digitalization, automation, and AI as key forces shaping workforce strategy this year, alongside cloud, DevOps, and security.
  • Bluebird 2025 lists machine learning and AI as core growth directions in senior IT leadership roles (e.g. IT Development Manager, IT Manager/Lead), signaling employers expect managers to lean into AI-driven capabilities.
  • NFJ 2025 H1 goes further by carving out “Artificial Intelligence” as a dedicated job category, with senior bands around 1.68–2.29M Ft gross/month, showing that AI talent is priced comparably to top development and DevOps roles.

Takeaway:

AI isn’t just a buzzword in Hungary’s 2025 market—it’s a line item in salary data, a leadership skillset, and a strategic trend. If you’re hiring, plan for AI as a budgeted discipline. If you’re moving, position your CV to show hands-on AI/ML exposure and integration into cloud/DevOps stacks

How the three guides build their numbers

  • NFJ (H1 2025): Median of advertised gross salary bands in job postings (Jan 1–Jun 30, 2025), by role category and seniority. Transparent but ad-driven and limited where postings are sparse.
  • Bluebird (Budapest focus): Based on 1,602 candidate interviews/CVs, ~350 employer salary bands, and accepted offer data (Sep 1, 2024–Feb 28, 2025). Strong on hands-on recruitment pipeline signals.
  • Enloyd (national, multi-industry): Benchmarks from H2 2024–H1 2025 tenders + recruiter processes + employer/candidate interviews; reports average gross monthly salaries and regional patterns.

In short:

  • Use NFJ to see what’s publicly offered today by category/level.
  • Use Bluebird for Budapest IT and what actually clears in offers for named roles.
  • Use Enloyd to sense cross-industry context, regional dispersion, and macro trendlines (e.g., +7.8% YoY).

Practical takeaways

  1. Prioritize cloud/DevOps/security - that’s where the 2025 demand overlaps across sources.
  2. Benchmark senior roles with two lenses: (a) NFJ’s posted medians for market-visible floors/ceilings, (b) Bluebird/Enloyd for offer-level and regional nuance.
  3. Expect fewer fully remote roles; sell hybrid with clear team culture and growth paths - it matters more than an extra 3–5% salary in many moves.
